Fatigue

Feeling tired all the time is a frequent complaint, and there will almost certainly be a reason for it. Furthermore, for the most part, it almost always possible to improve energy levels by taking a few determined steps.

There are two medical conditions can present with tiredness and nothing else. These are hypothyroidism and anaemia. Just about every other medical condition has other symptoms that help make the diagnosis. Tiredness due to a medical condition tends to be unremitting, whereas tiredness from other causes often varies from day to day.

Both poor mental health and poor physical health cause fatigue. Physical and mental health are inextricably linked, improving one will improve the other, whilst problems in one area will almost certainly lead to problems in the other

Common physical causes of low energy are smoking, alcohol, excess tea and coffee, sugar and processed food diets, including soft drinks, dehydration and lack of exercise. Common mental health problems causing low energy include overwork, stress, lack of sleep, depression, anxiety, boredom, feelings of helplessness and lack of  goals.

In order to achieve the level of energy you want , it is necessary to look at each area of life and see where it is possible to make improvements. Parents with babies may find it almost impossible to get enough sleep, but by improving their health in other areas parents may find that they can manage with less sleep. Energy is the common denominator of health and a marker of a healthy lifestyle.
